Can Mastering This Skill Actually Help You Make Money Online?

There are countless ways to make money online. Many of them are either a waste of time, too complicated, or simply unethical. Those methods are to be avoided at all costs.

However, there are quite a few legitimate ways to make money online, which all revolve on one basic skill. It is something that will be a frequent topic throughout the lifespan of this blog.

What is the skill?

It is your ability to tell valuable stories.

If that sounds far too simplistic to you, just give me a second to explain. Everything this blog is founded upon revolves around that skill. Earnworthy is all about telling stories and in the process, helping you tell stories.

But you’re probably wondering how this will make you any money. Well, that’s where your value proposition comes in.

You need to take your passion and create value for other people. The tool you’ll use will be your stories and the medium will be your blog, social media channels, and related technologies.

You see, stories are powerful because knowledge is powerful. We’ve all heard the phrase “knowledge is power” over and over again as a child. But have you ever really thought about what that means?

Why is knowledge so powerful? It is powerful because it can change who you are and in the process, it can help you change the world around you.

Knowledge gives you choices and choices give you freedom. In that sense, knowledge is the key to unlocking freedom in your life.

So now that we’re on the same page about the power of knowledge, we need to know not only how to acquire it, but how to share it as well.

The acquiring part is easy. If you’re reading this, you’re most likely already interested in learning as much as you can on the subjects that interest you.

Read books, watch videos, have discussions, explore the world around you, and surround yourself with people smarter than yourself. That’s how you acquire knowledge. Most people already know that.

The tricky part is sharing your knowledge with others. In the past, cavemen had to draw on the walls of caves and when they moved on, their shared ideas were left behind.

We are all blessed to have been born during a time where technology has allowed us to create and distribute our knowledge to a global audience all in the blink of an eye. The power of the Internet, and social media specifically, has forever changed how we communicate.

However, the ease with which we can share our knowledge with others has created a flood of noise, so much so that the good stuff is often hard to filter out.

This requires that we raise the stakes and share only the very best that we have to offer with our audience. If we do this consistently, we will create value for others and prosper in many ways.

Now all of this might sound pretty philosophical, but I write it with a very practical purpose in mind. I’ve just covered Internet marketing in a nutshell.

If you grasp the bigger picture above, you’ll have a huge advantage over the novice who thinks Internet marketing is only about getting some fool to click on a link and buy something.

In fact, forget the term “Internet marketing.” While I use the term from time to time, I’ve never really been fond of it. You and I are not Internet marketers, we are value creators.

So now the question is not: “How do I make money online?” Rather, it is: “How do I create meaningful value for others?”

My answer is simple. Start with what you deeply care about. Are you passionate about cars? Do you love to cook? Would you love to share your world travels?

Whatever it is, if you care deeply about it, there is an audience out there wanting to know more. Your job is to connect with that audience in such a meaningful way that you stand out from the noise.

If you do this consistently, with patience, you’ll see how this can develop into a profitable business. Authentic, honest, and truly useful knowledge is an extremely valuable commodity, more so now (with all the garbage out there) than ever before.

So don’t worry about the competition and don’t worry about all the little details at this very moment. Decide if you’re up for the challenge of sharing what you know with others.

If so, you’re in the right spot because I’m here to help you every step of the way.

Let me know how I can help. Reach out to me on Twitter and share what you’re working on.
